Kronos

The morning weeps when Dawn is gone

and childhood disappears,

when Memory was short and time was long.

— — — —

Forlorn and forgotten,

footsteps taken on the shore

have been swallowed by the sea.

— — — —

Youth is wasted on the young; wisdom is spent by fools.

Slippery words from a liar’s tongue

lead the latter to their doom.

— — — —

If I knew then what I know now,

I’d hold my breath

and keep it all together.
